Installation: can be boiled down into 6 basic steps. Its
not rocket science, and on standard a entranceway with a vinyl
frame system the whole process shouldn't take more than 2
hours. Most lights have a caulk bead applied between the frame
and the outer face or exterior of the entranceway.
- Step #1, Try loosening the screws on the interior side
first. Note: do not remove them completely at this time,
as the old unit could fall and get damaged. We recommend
that you save the old unit for a spare, incase of damage
to the new unit. A putty knife or blade can be used to free
the frame from the metal surface.
- Once the caulk has been cut away or freed, a second person
should be on the outside to hold the exterior of the old
light frame while the first person removes the screws completely
from inside the house.
- After this step, gently coax the frame apart from the
inside and or outside. The use of a putty knife or small
pry bay may help. (Do not force your way to removing the
old frame as this may cause it to crack).
- Step #2, Once the opening is clear, a small amount of
cleaning may be necessary, like scraping away any old caulk
or debris.
- Step #3, Next step: run a small bead of good weatherproof
caulk (White or a Paintable type) if you prefer, to grove
on the outer frame containing the safety glass and the art
panel.
- Step #4, Simply hold in place the new frame in from the
exterior.
- Step #5, A second party can mount the inside frame with
screws provided, into the holes of the interior frame, and
secure the frames with a snug fit.
- Step #6, Clean up your tools and your finished.
